The Minerals Development Fund (MDF) has held its first-ever Stakeholders Forum in Accra, bringing together traditional authorities, government representatives and key players from Ghana’s mining communities to deliberate on strategies for sustainable mineral resource management.
The forum, held under the theme “Building Mineral Wealth: Ensuring Equitable Benefits for all,”provided a platform for open dialogue between the Fund and its stakeholders on the impact of MDF’s interventions and the way forward for inclusive development.
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei, Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund, in her address, emphasized the importance of collaboration and transparency in the management of mineral royalties. She reaffirmed MDF’s commitment to ensuring that mining revenues are effectively utilized to improve social infrastructure, education, health, and livelihoods in mining-affected communities.
“Our stakeholders are at the heart of what we do. This forum is a testament to our shared responsibility in transforming mining revenues into visible community development,” Dr. Bisiw-Kotei stated.
The event brought together paramount chiefs, district executives, representatives of mining companies, and community leaders, many of whom commended the MDF for its continuous support to local development initiatives.
